“New Yorkers need to send a message to this purveyor of degeneracy that he has no business coming to our city to peddle his slanderous ‘Cop Fiction.’ It’s time for a boycott of Quentin Tarantino’s films”.

“He is a passionate man and that comes out in his art but sometimes he lets his passion blind him to the facts and to reality”, Tony Tarantino said. “Cops are not murderers, they are heroes”. “We don’t know if this irresponsible speech led directly to the recent murder of officers around the nation, but Mr. Tarantino should be mindful of the potential dangers that can result from the risky rhetoric once it is ingrained in the mind of a person who is willing to harm an officer”.

Before hundreds of protesters who were part of the Rise Up October demonstration to stop “police terror”, Tarantino said, “I am here because I am a human being with a conscience”.

The rally was organized by the group RiseUpOctober and came four days after the shooting and killing of police officer Randolph Holder while he was persuing a suspect in East Harlem.

“Mr. Tarantino has made a good living through his films, projecting into society at large violence and respect for criminals; he it turns out also hates cops”, according to a statement from the Philadelphia police union. Speaking at the main rally on Saturday, in New York’s Washington Square Park, Tarantino said he stood “on the side of the murdered”, adding that police often fell into the category of murderers.

The director hasn’t commented on his father’s statement, but significantly, in a 2010 interview, Tarantino said that he and his father have no relationship, and that they have never met.

“This is not being dealt with in any way at all”, Tarantino said.

The Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association released Tarantino’s statement Friday.

On Tuesday, the LAPD union announced it joined the NYPD union in boycotting Tarantino’s films. This is not a movie, this is real life where police officers lives are impacted by his words. His next film, “The Hateful Eight”, is scheduled for release in late December. “Hateful rhetoric dehumanizes police and encourages attacks on us and questioning everything we do threatens public safety by discouraging officers from putting themselves in positions where their legitimate actions could be falsely portrayed as thuggery”.
