Splatoon has had a robust amount of free updates since it launched in late May.

An update with over 40 new costumes and pieces of gear is due out today at 5PM PT. Along with new winter gear and bandanas, Splatoon will also receive a pair of new stages for players to ink up.
In addition to these updates, a new “Splatournament” has been announced.
In terms of what’s being added, two new maps are set to enter the rotation, called Mahi Mahi Resort and Museum d’Alfonsino. The map will feature several different elements for players to learn how to use to their advantage, including rotating objects that need to be avoided. There will also be a Mahi-Mahi Resort map with water that flush the area at the halfway point, providing new areas to ink.

Finally, there will be an official Splatoon tournament hosted by the Nintendo Treehouse during December. During Nintendo Direct, the Japanese company announced that it will add more new levels and features with future updates up until January.
