More students than ever before achieving top grades at Siddal Moor

Some 79 per cent of students received five or more A*-C grades, including English and maths – a rise of 3 per cent compared to a year ago.
One of many outstanding achievements was 70% of students achieving an A*-C grade in both English and Mathematics, one of the new important school performance measures.
Numerous girls were forced to dash off soon after collecting their results as they were off to Reading Festival. This means students have, on average, achieved around a quarter of a grade higher in their GCSEs compared to their contemporaries.
Principal Neil Gallagher said this year ranks among some of the best results the school has ever achieved.
Early indications show school children in Sittingbourne have performed well in their GCSE results.
“These results demonstrate an 18 per cent improvement over past year which was affected by the volatility in English marking experienced by many schools”, he said.
Pupil Amiee-Rose Merrigan is congratulated by Year Head Mr McKenna on her exam results.. “This success bears testament to the skill, hard work and dedication of the team”. He said: “To be honest, I wanted a couple more A*s particularly in maths but I’m happy with what I’ve got”.
Headteacher Maria B Rimmer said: “I am delighted for all our pupils and wish them every success”.
He said: “I got nine A*s and four As”.
