A third-floor balcony collapsed onto the second floor balcony, which then collapsed on the first floor, according to Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley. Caption says: Off-campus party caused deck collapse. So far, he said, none. The most serious injury appeared to be a broken arm. Foley said as many as 40 people may be hurt.

“That’s some pretty weighty decks that fell down”, Foley said. “We’re very lucky there weren’t worse injuries”. The third-floor porch collapsed onto the second-floor one, which then fell to the first floor. “Then you get 50 or 60 kids partying out there and it’s obviously a risky situation”. He said that a party was underway, and that the building is not owned by Trinity.

A multi-story beer funnel and tube could be seen in the wreckage.

“There are dozens of injuries, but we are very lucky that there were no fatalities and no known critical injuries from what could have been a truly tragic incident”, Bronin said.

‘Hartford firefighters and police were on the scene within minutes of the accident, ‘ he said in the statement.

Trinity College is a private liberal arts college and the second-oldest college in CT after Yale University.
