Angel Tree matches donors with children from qualified families unable to provide for them.

“We’re thrilled with the response the Appeal has received so far and we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to collect more than last year’s gift tally between now and Christmas Eve”.
Locally-owned Subway restaurants are working with the Salvation Army to fulfill the Christmas wishes of children in the 2015 Angel Tree program.
While regular applications are processed in late summer, the Salvation Army is still accepting emergency cases for the Angel Tree, like families who lose their possessions in a fire or who suffer layoffs from their jobs or even reduced hours at work.
“It’s Christmas, it’s about spreading the goodwill and the joy… we don’t stop giving if there still stuff left to give”, said Salvation Army Major Bruce Aldersley.
“The appeal is at its most basic a national Secret Santa, providing such a simple, convenient way for the public to pay forward their good fortune and help create a brighter, happier Christmas for a few of New Zealand’s most fragile families”.
Western Leader editor Melanie Louden hopes plenty of West Aucklanders get on board to help the Salvation Army.
“Our team members are always blown away by the spirit shown in east Auckland”, says Doug.
