Morris’ TD after Cousins’ INT leads Cowboys past Skins

The Cowboys showed across the board improvement in their win against Washington.

With today’s win, the Cowboys are now 1-1 on the season, while the Redskins are 0-2. Kirk’s game will take care of itself. Dak killed the Redskins with play-action boot plays all game. Instead, he looks uncertain in the pocket.

After a failed onside kick by Dallas, Washington stole the momentum with a pair of field goals and a forced fumble by cornerback Josh Norman. Cassel wasn’t great. He was average and didn’t make mistakes, but that’s good enough when not pitted against the “You like that!” version of Kirk Cousins.

But he threw a brutal red-zone pick that set up a long Dallas drive for an Alfred Morris touchdown run, which ultimately ended up winning the game for the Cowboys.

Cousins struggled with his accuracy and completed 28 of 46 passes for 364 yards with one touchdown and the interception.

“I don’t know what he saw on the interception”, Gruden said. That is until Prescott found Cole Beasley, who got away from Josh Norman in coverage, for a 12-yard gain. The Cowboys retaliated following the interception with an 11-play, 80-yard drive to take the lead. After Brown, who returned from a one-game suspension, gave NY a 13-10 lead with a 19-yard field goal on the next series, Brees led an eight-play, 47-yard drive that ended with Will Lutz kicking a 45-yarder to tie it with 2:54 to play.

“Life. And how I feel [about] having this drug test right after the game”.

“This is the first time – they started it this year”, Norman said. Snap count miscues, personnel confusion and a general lack of discipline in week two of the regular season do not make for a strong outlook.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) dives into the end zone for a touchdown as Washington Redskins inside linebacker Mason Foster (54) hangs on during the second half of an NFL football game in Landover, Md., Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016.

Cousins, who cashed in with a massive offseason contract, has not played well through the Redskins’ first two games of the season.

In his second career start, Prescott outplayed Cousins, completing 22 of his 30 passes for 292 yards. Washington slot receiver Jamison Crowder had six receptions for 39 yards and a score in the loss. Cousins did come to life at certain points but just made bad decisions too.

Overall, this story is just a classic case of a player taking out his frustration following a loss. It’s not necessarily that. “He’s done a variety of things for us”, said Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett. “Back to the drawing board”. Oh, and his defense gave up 38 points at home in Week 1 and 27 points to a Cowboys rookie quarterback in Week 2.

Nobody knows when Romo will return, but unlike past year when the Cowboys wilted after he went down, Dallas looks as if it could hang around in the NFC East.
