Moschino Barbie ad stars a boy, because dolls aren’t just for girls

A Barbie commercial that features a boy playing with the doll for the first time ever is getting praise for challenging gender barriers.

“Moschino Barbie is so fierce!”, the boy exclaims, soon wrapping it all up with a super smooth wink.

Moschino’s creative director Jeremy Scott is clearly a Barbie fan from way back.

And it seems I’ve been pronouncing Moschino wrong all of these years.

The video showcases the eight-piece collection Scott designed for the iconic toy, which includes leather shoes and bags and gold accessories.

However, the Italian fashion house Moschino, may be overestimating the income of their target audience with the ad. You can purchase the special doll on the designer’s website for $150.00.

‘This nearly made me cry!

A Barbie commercial that encourages gender-neutral play? I used to play with my sister’s Barbies and felt such shame afterward.

‘First BOY in Barbie commercial YES, YES and YES!!!

Something tells us this kid is going to be pretty popular at school Monday morning. Boys like dolls too!’ “The thing I love most about Barbie is that she is the ultimate muse, she’s worn every style and design imaginable and at the same time she’s had every possible profession you can dream of”.
