Most Agree With Trump on America’s Lost Greatness, Bloomberg Poll Finds

Donald Trump increased his lead slightly over his Republican rivals while Gov. Chris Christie gained some steam in the wake of the second 2016 GOP presidential debate last week, a new poll shows.

Biden leads Trump by a 51-to-40 margin. Before the debate, 46% had a positive impression of Bush, and now, 47% do, virtually no change.

Trump said he likes “African American negotiators”, and he said it should be easier for black entrepreneurs, along with all entrepreneurs, to secure business loans.

Asked about the birther claim in his MSNBC appearance, Trump responded that “I don’t talk about it anymore”.

“This is a marathon, not a sprint”, says veteran GOP consultant Ryan Erwin, who’s guiding Jeb Bush’s Nevada campaign. “He shouldn’t be running in this race as far as I’m concerned”, Trump said.

Overall, Donald Trump remains on top of the GOP field with support from about 1 in 4 Republican primary voters, although he also has fallen back in the past week.

Trump’s comments came during a meandering 40-minute speech that featured many of his regular talking points – such as China stealing jobs from the US and the media treating him unfairly – along with tangents on sweating, golf, his plane, Michael Jordan, the low quality of foreign-made furniture and his various business ventures.

Voters may also be attracted to Trump’s disdain for political correctness, his tell-it-like-it-is demeanor, and how he does not sugarcoat the problems that Americans are facing. “Because the polls speak for themselves. Check all of them”.

Two new polls this week show Cruz trailing among evangelicals.

Trump more recently was criticized for not reprimanding a man at a campaign event in New Hampshire who disparaged Muslims.

Yet, questions of honesty and trustworthiness that have surfaced amid continued scrutiny over her use of a private email server while secretary of State seem poised to dog her candidacy. Specifically, they identified an Iowa poll by Public Policy Polling and a Sunshine State poll by Florida Atlantic University. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson comes in at 8 percent, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush are tied with 7 percent. Marco Rubio has rebounded. You have a governor, you have a senator.

Trump suggested that Fiorina, who is surging, might be broke.

For details on the poll, go here. I didn’t even know I was in the poll. It matters little to me whether acquiring Compaq was a good move for Hewlett-Packard (my sense is that Fiorina was in a no-win position at HP).
