‘Most beloved’ of Prince family, friends bid farewell

The late star’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, confirmed Prince had been cremated in a statement, which read: “A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, lovely ceremony to say a loving goodbye”.

The statement did not say where the service had been held but Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson and brother-in-law Maurice Phillips were both seen going into Prince’s Minneapolis estate of Paisley Park on Saturday.

Participants in the ceremony handed some fans outside gift boxes that contained items such as Prince-themed apparel and a compact disc of music.

His body was released to his family shortly before 3 p.m. The Carver County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation in Prince’s death is ongoing but that they have no reason to believe it was a suicide.

“An announcement will be made at a future date for a musical celebration”.

Thousands of fans have been flocking to Paisley Park and other sites made famous by Prince since he was found dead Thursday morning.

The crooner who brought the world countless hits, such as “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry”, has died aged 57.

The autopsy of Prince Rogers Nelson, known to the world as simply “Prince”, has been completed, the coroner’s office announced today.

It continued: “The cause of death remains unknown and it will be at least four weeks before we receive the results of the autopsy”.

The 57 year-old artist was found dead on Thursday by staff members.

Prince had been on a USA tour as recently as last week.

The spokeswoman, Anna Meacham, said that Prince was cremated on Saturday and that his ashes’ “final storage will remain private”. I would be remiss to think she has the music business savvy to be able to handle a body of work that’s got to be worth $250 to 500m.

The singer’s death came two weeks after he canceled concerts in Atlanta, saying he wasn’t feeling well.

At one point early in his first show, he briefly disappeared from the stage without explanation.

Prince is transported to an area hospital following an emergency plane landing at Quad City International Airport in Moline, Illinois. After about a minute he returned and apologized, saying he didn’t realize how emotional the songs could be.

Representatives for Prince have not responded to requests from The Associated Press for comment on the reports of the emergency landing and overdose treatment, and Saturday’s statement from his publicist did not address them.
