Most Pa. GOP Delegates Won’t Be Bound By The Primary Vote

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is confident he will win his party’s nomination in the first round of balloting at its convention in Cleveland, Ohio in July, a new memo by his campaign advisors revealed. For Cruz and Kasich, it will be a chance to draw key delegates they need to win over.

As much as I agree with many Republican voters’ frustrations over the “arbitrary” and “undemocratic” rules established by the GOP to nominate the party’s presidential candidate, such accusations deserve a level of clarity.

Already moving on to Pennsylvania, Cruz is saying: “This generation needs to answer a new set of questions. All Mississippi delegates, 40 of us, will either be bound for Trump or Cruz”, Barbour told ABC News’ Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl, Political Director Rick Klein and Political analyst Matthew Dowd for the “Powerhouse Politics” podcast.

Trump said he wants to run against “crooked Hillary Clinton” because “We’re going to beat her so badly”. “With four elections in New York City in 2016 alone, we don’t have a moment to spare”. “So people who say that isn’t fair don’t have any credibility to me”. “Because they know they’re not going to get enough votes”.

But the irony of the ad is that Cruz, too, has consistently lost in polls that put him head-to-head with Clinton.

In response to comments from Cruz earlier in the day that Kasich “has no path whatsoever to the nomination”, the OH governor said, “If he’s so sure of that, why is he attacking me all of the time?”. “If I am the nominee”, the Democratic presidential candidate said today at a campaign event near Philadelphia after talking about the rise of cyberbullying, “We could very well have a campaign that is exactly all about that”.

Trump has also accused Cruz of stealing delegates unbound to a candidate.

“And then the drama begins”, said Michael McMonagle, a delegate candidate from Montgomery County who supports Texas Sen. “Hillary and I are tied in the general election in Pennsylvania and we’re going win it in the general if people come out and stand together”.

Kasich, in view of the same considerations, has made a different decision. “There has been so little trouble”, he said.

Donald Trump, fresh off a commanding victory in the Republican primary in his home state of NY, is suggesting he may soon have the race in hand.

According to The Washington Post, the memo was distributed late on 19 April following the real estate mogul’s big win in NY. He’s basically loitering in this primary, counting on Cruz to keep Trump under 1,237, so he can declare himself the only reasonable and electable alternative, thus convincing the delegates to rally to his side on a subsequent ballot. Worth a shot, I guess.
