Mother 3 may be getting a Western release for its 10th anniversary
Ten years later, rumors are coming hot and heavy that Nintendo finally plans to release their iconic RPG in Europe and North America.

Separately, Eurogamer has heard the same thing. They said Nintendo’s goal is to release it for the Wii U Virtual Console this year to celebrate Mother 3’s 10th anniversary of release on the Game Boy Advance in Japan.
Following this rumour, however, a Nintendo spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal that there was “no truth to the report”, so that’s that, we suppose.

However, Emily Rogers – an individual who has, in the past, tipped-off various games press outlets in the past about current Nintendo happenings, posted an ambiguous comment to her Twitter account recently, saying: “Don’t be surprised if Nintendo celebrates a game’s 10th anniversary this year”. The popularity of Super Smash Bros has helped the Mother/EarthBound fanbase grow since Ness’s inclusion in the original title, which only means more fans have been begging Nintendo for Mother 3 to see a global release. As the cliche goes: when there’s smoke, there’s Mother 3. Gamers have been assuaged by fan translation efforts, but a real, actual release would get this classic into the hands of more people, which is what we all really want. But Nintendo will likely be looking at the otherwise quiet 2015 Wii U release schedule, and responding to the positive sales of and critical response to the Mother 2 Virtual Console release.
