Mother and son shot in legs on their own doorstep
The 29-year-old woman and her son were taken to hospital with leg wounds after the gunmen struck in Eccles area of Salford, Greater Manchester, last night.

The first is described as white, aged 19 or 20, chunky build with stubble on his face wearing a baseball cap and with a local accent with slow speech.
Rival gangs are understood to be involved in drug dealing, loan sharking and extortion, but Mr Jackson said the gang war may also be over other issues.
The mother and son answered the door and, following a brief conversation between the offenders and victims, one of the men fired a number of shots.
“We believe the shooting of the mother and child last night is linked to an on-going feud between groups in Swinton and central Salford, of which the Massey murder is a part of”.
Specialist officers have been brought in to patrol Salford in the wake of the shooting, although Deputy Chief Constable Ian Hopkins says gun crime in the area is not “out of control”.
“I would urge the local community to come forward if they saw or heard anything in their area at the time of the incidents to get in touch as a matter of urgency”.
“These incidents often start not necessarily over drugs but over a degree of disrespect shown to each other”, he said.
Detectives have now offered a £50,000 reward in the case in a bid to find his killer.
The woman received two gunshots wounds to her legs, whilst the boy sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
The boy is being treated in hospital for life-changing injuries, while the mother is believed to be stable.
Security boss Mr Massey was shot outside his home in Salford and there is a possible link to a feud between rival gangs in the Swinton and central Salford areas.
Another property in Salford was also fired on.
“Sadly, this has now been proved by the senseless shooting of a seven-year-old boy and his mother in this sickening attack”.
‘The level of criminal recklessness is putting innocent people at risk and this has to stop.
After the latest shooting, his niece Donna said: “My uncle has been murdered and now Salford will be a blood bath because he’s not here to stop it”.
Detective Superintendent Joanne Rawlinson said: “This is a truly shocking set of circumstances in which a young boy and a woman have been injured after they were shot at by a gunman at their home”. And we do need people to come forward. We are, and will continue, to work with Salford City Council to try and prevent further incidents.
‘At this early stage, we do not yet know the motive behind this incident, but I would ask the community, as upset as they may be when they hear news of this attack, to please let the police carry out this investigation.
He said a major police operation involving 50 detectives was already running in Salford, targeting organised crime.

“This morning we have made seven arrests this morning and last month we arrested 24 and charged 22 people in relation to the organised crime dispute in Little Hulton”.
