HEARTSTOPPING footage has captured a mother wrestling her teenage daughter from a would-be kidnapper in an American supermarket.
Luckily, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy was outside the store and could hear the screams as the mother engaged in a life-and-death tug-of-war with Bonello over her child, according to the Tampa Bay Times. But Behnen suddenly noticed that the girl’s mother and the store manager alerted him to the attempted kidnapping.
Behnen quickly jumped back into his patrol auto and blocked Bonello from leaving the parking lot. “When he said kidnapping, I was in a little bit of shock there because it’s broad daylight”, he said. He eventually gave up and was arrested.
Sgt. Craig Callahan, from the town’s Sheriff’s office, said: “In my 10 years on the road I have never seen anything like this”. He added Bonello meant to kidnap the girl in front of all the people in the store.
Meanwhile, the victim is at home with her family, recovering from, no doubt, the most terrifying experience of her life.
“Very thankful for that and the work of the off-duty deputy who made the arrest”, he said.
Bonello’s intentions, as of yet, are not known.
Police say a mother stopped a man from dragging her daughter out of a Dollar General in Florida. The store’s manager alerted Behnen that Bonello was trying to kidnap the teenager, and Behnen used his patrol auto to block Bonello’s vehicle from driving away with the girl, the statement said.
The mother and daughter were uninjured.
While no one was hurt in what police are calling a “violent attack” we’re sure this fearless mom and her daughter are pretty shaken up after the whole incident.
