The girl’s mother was convinced someone was breaking into the home, so she retrieved a gun and fired, hitting her daughter.
St. Cloud Police Department declined to release the identities of the shooter or the victim because someone in the home works for a law enforcement agency.
Investigators said evidence at the scene is consistent with the mother’s story.
A Florida woman accidentally shot and killed her own daughter believing she was an intruder, authorities said.
She said the intruder was quickly coming at her so she shot at the intruder.
“At this time, the incident appears to be an accidental shooting”, police said in a statement. “She has a heart problem”, in a recording released during the five-minute 911 call did Campbell mention why Doby was struggling to breathe – a gunshot wound to the chest.
After getting instructions to start CPR, the husband leaves the phone and a woman frantically talks to the dispatcher.

Roberts said she didn’t know if the daughter lived in the same house with her mother. St. Cloud is south of Orlando, in central Florida.
