Trump’s sustained hostility toward the Khans – alarming in part because criticism of Gold Star families of war dead has traditionally been off limits in American political discourse – has received bipartisan condemnation including from Senator John McCain, a former prisoner of war once mocked by Trump for being captured in Vietnam.
In the interview aired on Sunday morning on ABC’s “This Week,” Trump cast doubt on why Khan’s wife did not speak.
Trump responded by criticising his wife, Ghazala Khan, for her silence during his speech and suggesting she was not allowed to speak.

Ted Cruz in Wisconsin’s primary – and they have also previously criticized Trump over comments he’s made questioning the fairness of a judge because of his Hispanic heritage and his proposal to temporary ban Muslims from entering the country. “Donald Trump said he has made a lot of sacrifices“.
United States’ Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been under continuous fire since he questioned the Muslim parents of US Army Captain Humayun Khan, who were both at the center of last week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
McCain, a leading voice in the party on military issues, on Monday condemned Trump for disparaging a fallen soldier’s parents, saying in a statement his remarks do not represent the views of “our Republican Party”.
He said many “good Republicans” are sending emails and voicemails to him, telling him things they “want to say” but “haven’t said”.

But Khan is onto the overarching theme here – Trump doesn’t seem likely to change anytime soon. In interviews since Thursday, Ghazala Khan said she tries to avoid rooms where her son’s picture hangs for fear of breaking down in tears.
Khan said on NBC’s “Today” show Monday that Trump’s accusations that he attacked the Republican presidential nominee prove he “has not read the Constitution”. He said he would like to hear from me.
“I work very, very hard”, Trump continued. Many of his supporters have been drawn to his tendency to say the politically unthinkable.
Ghazala Khan, who penned an op-ed addressing Trump, broke down in tears during the appearance Monday while recalling her son’s comments to her vowing to protect his fellow soldiers.

Clinton on July 31 said Trump has a “total misunderstanding” of American values and has inflamed divisions in American society. “I have email mailbox full of assurances that I am right, we are right, and he needs to mend his way to deserve their vote”.
