Police, who are now searching for the baby’s mother, think the child could have been left in the street overnight. “[We would] like to know why the baby was left there”. The newborn baby boy was described as either white or Hispanic.
Investigators will try to find the mother.
Later, KCAL9 ran an interview with Alex Diaz, the man who first saw the baby stroller Monday night, ignored it, and then when he saw it the next day, found the baby. “But the most important thing … is that the baby is safe”. It appeared that the baby had been there all night.
But the next day, he walked up to the stroller, “pulled the blanket down, and found a baby’s head”.
According to Mr Diaz, the newborn was wearing new pyjamas and covered in sweat.
“You took your time to dress him up, but you couldn’t take your time to take him somewhere safe”.
‘You just left him out on the street – threw him out like trash.
The baby’s stroller was located across from St. Agnes Church, where according to Rev. David Matz, the church had social services.
