Motherwell confirm Mark McGhee as new manager
And I still get thanks from (ex-Motherwell owner) John Boyle for that.

He said: “When I came here the first time it was the exact same, there were those who said ‘Why are they getting him?”
He will be unveiled as the club’s new manager at a press conference at around 6pm.
“It really was enjoyable to play in and enjoyable to go along for that journey”. It was a very special night.
Asked if he believed Strachan would want to put right the wrongs of the recent campaign, McGhee replied: ‘I hope so, I can’t speak for Gordon. He can be a little more vocal when he has to be, I think everybody has to be. I don’t know. I couldn’t read Gordon, he is not easy to read.
“I’ve spoken with the Owner and the Board and the direction and focus to make this club this best it can be was hugely attractive”.
Motherwell announced the return of Mark McGhee as manager on a two-year deal today (Tuesday).
“I had to apologise to the Arsenal secretary at one time because I think he thought that I thought I had a season ticket”.
Motherwell reportedly received over 75 applications for the vacancy, but in the end approached McGhee, who previously managed Well between 2007 and 2009.
“I have enjoyed that tremendously, it has been a privilege to watch these games but there is only so many times you can do that”.
“If someone said: ‘You didn’t qualify, you are up the road” then I think you would have to accept that but I don’t think they could deny there has been progress and improvement, there is a style emerged and I think that is a good template for going forward.
“But I have had enough of that”. I would be in on Wednesday but I have been away from my family for almost two weeks with the Scotland party.
McGhee intends remaining as Scotland No 2 provided Gordon Strachan confirms his intention to remain as national team manager in the coming days.
“All that is history; it doesn’t sit at all in my mind, I’m just delighted to be back and I’m convinced this is something I’m going to get my teeth into”.

“We would hope to rise above that and do a bit better than that”.
