Smartwatches are becoming more and more popular these days.

While the flat-tire may not be pleasing to the eye, it stayed on the latest Moto 360 to offer more space for everything happening under the hood. All in all the Motorola 360 2 is a great smartwatch. It’s still not slim, with a thickness of 11.4mm, but the new colours available help retract from a few of the chunkiness. The original Moto 360 offered Moto Maker for enhancing finishes and bands, but many of those options are available from the off with the second-gen device.

When it comes to design, the Moto 360 has a steel case that is round and it come in three colors black, gold and silver. It also offers a variety of straps and bands which are available on Apple Stores. Both devices are completely different in terms of design and software. So it begs the question – which device is better? Motorola deserves a great deal of credit for that. There is even a Moto “M” symbol on it, which is a nice touch. This button allows you to turn the smartwatch on, as well as dim the screen – but you can do the latter by placing your palm over the display until it vibrates too. If you press and hold this button, you can also access apps. The smartwatch is also created to be more suitable for outdoor activities and sports and Apple is planning to do this by increasing its waterproof standard from IP67 to IPX7 rating. If anything a bit more weight from a metal back would have made it feel more like the £229 it costs.

Three color options are available for the body on Moto 360. It means you could have a gold case, with a black bezel if you wanted to jazz things up. The Moto 360 sports a 1.56-inch display for men and 1.37-inch display for women. Depending on the Moto 360 (2015) model you get, the display is either 1.56 inches (39.6mm) with a resolution of 360 x 330 pixels and a density of 233 ppi, or 1.37 inches (34.8mm) with a resolution of 360 x 325 pixels and a density of 263 ppi.

That black bar at the bottom of the display though. Ugh.

Remember when we said that the Gear S2 looks sportier than the Moto 360?

While the Motorola watch has Samsung beat when it comes to processing, the two smartwatches tie in the RAM and storage department, featuring 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage each. The 46mm version has a 400mAh battery, while the 42mm owns a 300mAh juicer. Unfortunately, Motorola hasn’t been able to do this, and has kept the display as-is. Today we are going to analyze two smartwatches that match the description.

The new round-face smartwatch from Motorola is pretty neat for a lot of reasons, and one of them is the accompanying wireless charging dock which is very convenient for users.

The Moto 360 2 can also be personalized by choosing between a series of watch faces. The main feature of the new watch is that it’s compatible with iOS devices too, unlike to the first watch which was only compatible with Android devices. With Android Wear on Moto 360, Google has seemingly focused its attention to deliver more information through the smartwatch. Those who prefer display quality rather than pixel quantity should instead opt for the Samsung device. Besides, Motorola put the proper fitness angle into the Moto 360 Sport.

The battery of the Moto 360 2 is smaller than the one featured by the LG Watch Urbane 2.

Apart from that, the device also features health tracking sensors like an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, ambient light monitor, and heart rate monitor. However, the Moto 360 is no Fitbit replacement, but it’s a good start and it will be enough for a few. This data will also link to Google Fit, which is handy. The Moto 360 runs on Google’s Android Wear OS while the Apple Watch runs on Apple’s own software for wearables. There is much less functionality with iPhone, which you can read about in our separate, linked below.

Tech Radar noted that it’s likely that there will be enhancements with the native app support, the ability to watch videos and the tetherless Wi-Fi.

The watch also comes with a 570 mAh battery that is bigger than most of its competitors and gives you a few hours more.
