Motorola Mobility has announced the availability of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto X Style in India.
Absent from the list are the original editions of the Moto X and G. In addition, among those that did not make the cut include the AT&T- and Verizon-locked second-gen Moto X. According to TechTimes, the Moto E lineup will also not be updated to Android M as the lineup doesn’t meet the internal storage requirements for the new Android version.
The Motorola Moto X Style was launched last month in India and came with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed.
The announcement today is actually for the Moto X Style, which is the name for the Moto X Pure Edition outside of the United States. What this means is the U.S. versions aren’t getting updated now, but will likely be next and get the latest version of Android soon. Then the Moto X 2nd Gen update is also hitting users smartphones in Brazil.
David Schuster, Motorola announced the roll out of the new updates via a post on Google+ post. The Moto X Pure Edition (in the US) has started the final approval process as well, and should arrive in the next few weeks, and before the end of November. While this is being said, you can not update the smartphone manually and you might have to wait for the update notifications to pop up on your device. The Marshmallow update will bring in a new “Memory Manager” that lets you check memory usage of individual apps, better volume controls, DND button in the quick settings panel, Google Now on Tap, Doze Mode, a new RAM manager, and automatic app backup among others.
