MotoGP Motegi: Lorenzo fastest in opening session
The Spaniard has a history of outperforming his rivals at Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi circuit, where he won in 2014, 2013 and 2009 and finished second in 2012 and 2011.

Both Vale and Jorge like the track a lot and we look forward to starting work on Friday during the first practice session.
Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo was the fastest during the 2015 Japanese Grand Prix on Friday 9 October.
Lorenzo is 14 points behind points-leading teammate Valentino Rossi in the championship standings, following his fantastic weekend in Aragon last time out.
Qualifying will be held on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
Despite the subdued atmosphere, qualifying went ahead as normal and Rossi positioned himself perfectly, shadowing Lorenzo before outpacing him on his opening lap. His improvement sparked Rossi back into life and the championship leader showed he didn’t need a slipstream to challenge his teammate, regaining pole as the chequered flag came out.
Rossi ended the session fifth, 0.733s off Lorenzo’s pace.
QUEDGELEY’S Scott Redding is aiming for a top ten target as he heads into the Grand Prix of Japan at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit this weekend. “Tomorrow, I will feel better”.
“I expected to improve more when I put on the softer option at the end, but unfortunately this didn’t happen because we’re not good with the setting yet and have to work a bit further.” “This year we go there eager to do another great battle so hopefully we could do another nice race and try to make the championship tighter”, he said.

“I am happy that I can be still competitive and constant”, he said. “So I know it’s not going to be easy, but I think we have the potential”. “But at Aragon I made a big mistake because there I was ready to fight for the victory”, said Marquez. Smith had a very good first outing, finishing FP1 fourth, ahead of Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso. Rider feedback indicated that the hard compound front slick exhibited excellent braking performance, but the medium front slick was deemed to be the better all-round performer.
