“I tried the maximum to race against Marquez. I wanted to do something different here”. My opinion was that the overtaking was maybe too aggressive. He didn’t need to do it in that way, he could have waited.

“I was anxious at the start of the race”, he said.

JL: If I don’t put straight the bike we crash.

Rossi: Ok [smiling]. I don’t agree.

After this exchange, the pair return to their respective corners, but then return to the argument.

Defending champion Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) finished third behind team-mate and home favourite Valentino Rossi.

Lorenzo: Well, it’s your opinion. I don’t want to give anything for granted. “He always does that, like when in the conference he starts talking to the rider next to him while another is speaking”.

He said: “I’m very happy”.

The disappointment of the yellow tide of the Number 46’s fans, who were packing the grand stands of the Misano World Circuit, was big, but everyone applauded Pedrosa, one of the most beloved rider in the MotoGP paddock. Throughout the whole weekend I had a good feeling except for the qualifying when I finished eighth.

Soft front tyre: “I had used this option only in the morning practices when the temperature was lower, not in the afternoon, so it was a bit of a gamble but I made a decision to trust my feeling. In the race I was the only one to choose the soft tyre, I don’t know if this has made the difference, but for me it worked”. I am only four points from Cal in the standings, so we have to try and lower this at the next round and therefore I will be back stronger in Aragon.

“A little later I could see I could catch Valentino, so I tried to keep focused for last part of the race, and actually take the chance for a victory today”. “In general, they’re not yet as constant as the Bridgestones “. I couldn’t imagine I was going to win. The Spanish MotoGP rider claimed pole position at Misano, after he broke the lap record at the track on his first outing in the session, and then proceeded to go even faster, setting a lap record of 1min 31.868sec on his final outing at the track.
