Motorola launches new Moto X Play smartphone in Canada

However, according to latest reports, Moto X Play is coming to the U.S. ultimately. This was in line with Motorola’s strategy past year when it had released the Motorola Droid Turbo at Verizon as a US exclusive, while the same device was launched as the Motorola Moto Maxx with GSM radio bands across other regions in the world.

Here’s a great deal for anyone in the market for Motorola’s excellent Moto X Play. If the image above is the new watch, would you buy it? That should make it a hot item for anyone who digs the DROID brand but can’t stand to splurge for something with a bit more oomph.

As a reminder, the Moto X Play sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, translating to a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch (ppi). Under the hood, the device would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip, in combination with an octa-core CPU, clocked at 1.7 GHz. The smartphone also comes with P2i nanocoating that helps protect it against accidental liquid spills and light drizzle.

This is an even better deal when you consider that Koodo is one of only two Canadian carriers that provides the Play’s 15W Turbo Charger inside of the box. I say that because the Moto X Play is most definitely not a flagship, and if this is the US version of that phone, well, it’s not a flagship either. Nevertheless, if Motorola plans to launch a Droid Maxx 2 in the U.S., more information should come to light soon enough.

As of now, Motorola has yet to confirm the Moto 360 2, meaning at the very least that the watch itself could still be changed between now and the date of its announcement. Nearly a year after its launch, rumors about the device’s successor have surfaced online. In the US, the Moto X Style is being sold as the Moto X Pure Edition through Motorola’s website.
