Motorola refreshes Android phones, offers better cameras

The new Moto G 3rd generation smartphone was also unveiled during the event. The Moto G, Moto X Play & Moto X Pure Edition are all highly customizable Android smartphones. The 5.5-inch Play model promises two days of battery life, while the company says the 5.7-inch Style should last more than a day. While the camera setup is basically the same, it’s the battery which impressed us, thanks to its capacity of 3630 mAh, able to make it through nearly 48 hours of mixed use.

In case you were curious about how the new phone is any different from the existing Moto G, there isn’t any real difference in terms of display resolution and base internal storage.

In a bid to stay relevant in the clustered smartphone market, the company has announced the third generation of its low-cost, popular smartphone, Moto G.

A man using Google Glass examines one of Motorola’s new Moto X phones at a launch event in New York, on August 1, 2013.

The phone features a 5.5-inch water-repelling display, 1.6GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 2gb of RAM, a 21 megapixel camera, and a 48-hour 3,630mAh battery. However, other leaks have emerged for the Moto G 3rd gen and this time, they purportedly reveal the precise selling retail price of the handset. It didn’t get more specific than that, but based on the unlocked price of an iPhone 6, that should put the Moto X style around $350-450 dollars.

First up is the Moto X Style-here in the U.S.it’ll be called the Moto X Pure Edition.

The older Moto G (2014) came with 8 megapixel camera. The Moto X Style offers a 21-megapixel camera with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, outfitted with a wide angle lens and selfie flash.

Software for these variants will all be based on the latest and greatest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, so the experience will be pretty much the same – although the transitions will be more “buttery smooth” with the faster processors and higher RAM. As for Moto G, the phone is available starting today in 60 countries across the globe, making this the biggest Motorola launch. But the Moto X Play will not be coming to the United States.
