Mourinho agent denies reported letter to Manchester United
Embattled Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal offered to resign from his post after the dismal home loss to Southampton according to new reports.

The Red Devils – frequently derided of late for playing in a tiresome, uninspiring way – had just one shot on target during the defeat.
Adding to the odds of van Gaal’s potential early exit is Manchester United’s recent 1-0 loss to Southampton during this weekend’s Premier League action.
The Guardian claimed that Van Gaal returned to the Netherlands on Sunday where he was asked by Woodward to discuss his position with his family.
Van Gaal’s side are next in action in Friday’s FA Cup fourth-round trip to Championship side Derby County.
Monday’s newspapers reported that Van Gaal is on the brink at Old Trafford, and the Dutchman himself admitted for the first time that he has failed to live up to expectations this season.
What’s happened since United last scored in the first half at Old Trafford?
United are now struggling with injuries to the likes of Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, and Van Gaal may move for a new defender before the transfer window closes to improve their situation.
United’s players were also given a two-day break after the Saturday game. We must get better results for you, I hope this attractive competition will provide them.
Appointed as successor to David Moyes in 2014, Van Gaal is just over halfway through a three-year contract.
Yet Van Gaal argued that given he has spent £250m-plus United should be better. It looks like his rib and his chest, but we have to wait and see as I can not say.
Louis van Gaal is on the brink of losing his job after it emerged that Ed Woodward has canvassed senior players about the Manchester United manager’s methods.
