Mourinho: Chelsea can win Champions League as underdogs

Costa scored 20 league goals en route to Chelsea winning the title last season, but has netted just three in a disappointing second campaign.

And Mourinho’s long-term future at Chelsea is also far from clear.

Chelsea were set on their way by an own-goal when Diego Costa’s saved effort deflected in off Ivan Marcano before Willian put the game to bed early in the second half. I made a mistake, however my relationship with Mourinho is superb, we get on rather well.

The Spain worldwide appeared to toss a training bib over his shoulder towards, but just missing, Mourinho in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur just under two weeks ago.

President Florentino Perez is said to be keen on bringing Mourinho back to the Bernabeu despite sacking the Portuguese in 2013.

“They don’t want to play Barcelona, they don’t want to play Real Madrid, they don’t want to play Atletico (Madrid), they don’t want to play Bayern (Munich)”.

Jose Mourinho has taken a subtle swipe at Iker Casillas after his Chelsea side knocked Porto out of the Champions League. When we won it with Inter in 2010 we were not candidates.

He did hint at a little bit of confidence in his side, however, saying that “all the teams who finished second in their group are going to want to play against us”.

Mourinho expressed joy that his under-fire players were able to rise to the challenge during a tense evening at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s website focused on the mistakes Casillas had made in his team’s 2-0 defeat against Dynamo Kiev, urging Blues players to test him “as much as possible”. There is a lack of confidence, clearly, but his attitude was very good and his movement was much better, so goals are coming.

Jose Mourinho’s men are down in 14th place in the Premier League and travel to surprise leaders Leicester City on Monday. So let’s hope we don’t have Blues supporters doing horribly racist things and singing horribly racist songs at a Paris metro stop again like we did last season. “He is a very important player for us but as to whether he is back to his very best, you must ask him because only he knows how he feels”.
