Mourinho: Chelsea were denied a clear penalty
Chelsea have collected just 15 points from their opening 15 games in the Premier League this season. That is not the problem.

That left last season’s champions marooned in 14th place and 14 points off a top-four place, and Mourinho was highly critical of his players for failing to score against a team that had never before kept a clean sheet away from home in the top flight. Before this game, I think that was fair for us to think that our quality would win three or four matches in a row, and would push us into an area I expected us to be at the end of December.
“We tried in the period where we were stronger but this is the moment when they scored the goal and with five minutes to go with a team that was defending, some people call it intelligent, some people call it lack of play”.
Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth is now unbeaten in three games and it moved out of the relegation zone after defeating the disappointing defending champion. “The bad moment is my responsibility and the players’ responsibility”.
As City dropped to third, Arsenal went to second – two points behind Leicester – by halting a three-game winless run with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland that saw Olivier Giroud score for both teams. So all I would say is: “‘Let’s think about winning the next game and forget about setting targets.’ To fix targets is impossible with our inconsistency”. “It was really emotional in the dressing room afterwards, so I’m so proud of them”.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, a downbeat Mourinho said: “We didn’t deserve to lose”.
Bournemouth’s players celebrate beating Chelsea after the English Premier League soccer match between Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge stadium in London, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015.
Embattled Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho maintained that the loss was undeserved and said the referee should have awarded a penalty before Bournemouth’s goal when Simon Francis handled.
“I thought we were magnificent”, said Howe.
“I felt we lost our way a bit early [in the] second half and Chelsea put some pressure on, which is something you expect here”.
Costa started the Bournemouth match much like he started the Tottenham one – by choosing not to take part in the pre-game warm-up.

It was no surprise that Costa came on for the second half, with Oscar making way, but the action began with Matt Ritchie firing another Bournemouth effort just over. “The referee made a mistake and the linesman made a mistake, and that’s football”. “We broke well and counter-attacked well a couple of times and gave them problems and we defended well”.
