Mourinho drops Costa, but Chelsea still toothless

Diego Costa Looks Like A Goner: Something isn’t quite right with the Spanish striker this season and following his insane act which saw him throwing his bib at Mourinho at the weekend, the Daily Express is reporting that the forward’s long-term future at Chelsea is now in doubt.

Costa reacted angrily by tossing his substitute’s bib at Mourinho, his second open altercation with the Portuguese born manager in the last five days.

“A top player on the bench is not happy, so for me his behaviour was normal”.

The Chelsea manager joked: “If he wants to hurt me, it’s not with a bib”. I read an interview Mourinho gave where he said he was keeping an eye on my football and had sent scouts to watch me.

Jose Mourinho dropped his disgruntled main striker Diego Costa for Chelsea’s Premier League visit to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (Monday NZ time) but the champions still proved toothless up front as they ground out an undistinguished goalless draw at White Hart Lane.

They probably won’t do it immediately but I really do think it is the beginning of the end, which is really unfortunate because he has been a smash hit since he has been at Chelsea.

Mourinho dropped Blues bad-boy Diego Costa to the bench for the trip to White Hart Lane, instead starting with Hazard, Willian, Oscar and Pedro.

“If our team deserve credit for a clean sheet and I think we do, Tottenham deserve even more credit for keeping one because we were the more risky team, we had the best chances, and Lloris was the goalkeeper with the more work and the save of the game”.

Mourinho put out the fire surrounding any issues involving the pair, but criticized his effort despite scoring against Norwich City in their 1-0 win the previous Barclays Premier League matchday.

Mourinho insisted that he had no problem with Costa’s histrionics, but his praise for Eden Hazard appeared telling. I was not expecting to have a player jumping and singing because he was not playing. He was ready to play when he went to the warm up.

“When results don’t follow, you always try to nit pick”, he said.

“Overall, we are frustrated”, Wenger said.

Spurs seduced us with that 5-3 win on New Year’s Day last season, when Chelsea defender Gary Cahill was left mangled by the match-winner Harry Kane.

Diego Costa has been in stifling form since the start of the season and he’s apparently not happy with his current situation.
