Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fired a powerful left-footed drive at the top corner of the net in the 24th minute. Mind you, he was still overshadowed by Courtois yesterday, as young Thibaut was arguably Chelsea’s best player.

The Gunners midfield played well with the combination of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla whilst Chelsea’s midfield was at their weakest as the wings struggled to get the ball. Arsenal won the match 1-0.

Mourinho’s feud with Wenger continued in Sunday’s Community Shield clash between the two managers’ respective teams.

Since February last year when Mourinho called Wenger “a specialist in failure”, and the Arsenal boss replying that his Chelsea counterpart was being “disrespectful”, the pair have had tensions mounting.

Despite a difference of opinion over the sale of goalkeeper Petr Cech to rivals Arsenal, and the suspicion that he would like to have been granted greater transfer funds this summer, Mourinho insists he and the Russian billionaire are now in unison.

For years, Arsenal has been criticized for lacking a backbone in defence, and Cech may finally resolve that complaint if he can repeat the form he had at Chelsea. Fabregas is now with Chelsea, per Arsenal’s official website. This signifies the number of preseason trophies the gunners have won, per Cross. Loic Remy, starting because Diego Costa was once again feeling his hamstring, picked out the Brazilian with a brilliant cross, but he headed wastefully over the crossbar from inside the six-yard box.

“It was an intense game”.

“We did enough, we defended really well as a team and kept them to minimal chances”, he added.

Yet, based on their own personal recent record and that of Community Shield winners in the Premier League, a title success is not as likely as some will be predicting.

“When we had to defend, we defended as a team and there’s nothing wrong with that”. They’ll say: ‘Look, we can compete with the best sides and the league champions.’. They claimed Barclays Asia Trophy 2015 in Singapore by winning all four matches of the competition against Everton, Lyon, Singapore XI and Wolfsburg. “By respect of my club and by respect of football I would never refuse a handshake with a football manager in a football stadium”.

“As long as I get it… every time in press conferences, it can have an impact on the team”, he said.
