Mourinho Frustrated By Stadium Ban, Won’t Appeal

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will not appeal his stadium ban which prevents him from being with his team for Saturday evening’s Premier League clash with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

The 52-year-old has been given a one-match stadium ban with immediate effect and also fined £40,000 for speaking to referee Jon Moss at half-time during the 2-1 defeat by the Hammers.

Mourinho is expected to watch the match from Chelsea’s hotel with his staff taking over his regular match day duties.

“Yes, I know why the results have been different but I can’t tell you because I’ll be here a long time. We know we have to improve more and keep going in the same way”. “A few of them I can’t, I don’t even want to touch them – but yes I know”. Because against West Ham the referee told me not to be on the bench in the second half, but nobody told me to leave the stadium.

“I think it helped towards the end of last season when we weren’t quite sure what Asmir’s thinking was and what his intention was, so it was important that I showed Jack I trusted him”, said Hughes. In this case the expectation is that the match officials and the Premier League match delegate would be on hand to ensure that Mourinho did not break any stadium ban. “Maybe”, said Mourinho, gesturing to his phone, which rang during Friday’s media conference. I don’t know (where I watch the game). I can’t contact with the game so what’s the point?

Assistant first team coach Louro has worked with Mourinho for several years but earned his ire earlier this year when he accidentally broke the news of Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool to the team prior to the Capital One Cup final.

The stadium ban will be enforced if Mourinho is found culpable for further misconduct.

Chelsea captain Terry says the players are 100% behind manager Mourinho and stories saying otherwise are “ridiculous”.

Asked whether he would be watching the game anywhere, he said: “I have no plans [to watch]”. Maybe I sit on a street corner with my iPad.

However, their win over Dynamo Kiev would undoubtedly have boosted morale as they look to put a hard period behind them and get back to winning ways in the league. He protects us. We need to be better, he’s protecting us from that.
