The Portuguese boss is already putting his players through their paces in training as he prepares for their first pre-season match against Wigan on Saturday (1.30pm).

Other Euro 2016 participants not involved included England’s Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Chris Smalling, a trio Mourinho has said will be on the club’s tour of China that begins next week but not play in either of the games. “We can not make miracles and the players can not go directly from the Euros to pre-season”.

The new manager has promised a fresh start, despite suspicions that he may bring his own brand of negativity to Old Trafford.
“I understand that they expect a lot from me but I also expect a lot from them”, Mourinho told the club’s website (www.manutd.com). He may not have had the best of debut season at Manchester United, but the man from Kolbermoor, Germany is a top-class player who has won eight Bundesliga titles and one Champions League trophy in his illustrious career.
Manchester United will look to start the upcoming premier league season on a high following Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s addition to the side.
In a game that will be nothing more than a glorified training session, there will be plenty of substitutions and tactical changes over the course of the 90 minutes.
“I’ve always respected him both as a man and a manager, he’s a nice guy and one of the most successful managers of all time”.
The 34-year-old and the United management team put an end to speculation over his future at Old Trafford by agreeing to a one-year contract extension in March.
Reid, 18, has agreed a three-year deal and is set to link up with the club’s development squad ahead of their pre-season tour to Scotland later this month.
‘I’m delighted to be here.

That works out well for Mourinho and United as four of his first six league matches will commence in the earlier portion of the day.
