Mourinho: I’m very happy to win in ‘Fergie Time’

Ibrahimovic scored three goals in Manchester United’s first two games in the league, though he drew a blank in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Hull City. Jose Mourinho hailed Marcus Rashford’s late contribution against Hull City yesterday and hinted that the 18-year-old has a big role to play for Manchester United this season.

Mourinho has overseen victories in all of his first three matches in charge and Shaw, who made his return this season from a broken leg, claimed the mood within the squad is buoyant.

“He’s very good”, Mourinho said.

The first of those matches was the 2-1 win in the Community Shield against Leicester City on August 7 when Ibrahimovic scored a match-winning header. He came on and gave us diversity in our football.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic goes close twice in the first half for United, while Wayne Rooney is denied by a brilliant first-half block from Hull captain Curtis Davies.

“United now have a two-week break due to the global fixtures and Mourinho says whether Rashford starts the next game will depend on who returns fit”. We all expect to perform well in the Premier League and try to win the trophy, and also to perform great in the Champions League. “It will start to be decided as of January and February, when we will know who are the likely candidates to win the trophy”.

It certainly wasn’t the most convincing of performances from José Mourinho’s side, but it’s hard to argue with three wins from three games, especially with new players and a new manager still getting to grips with each other. “But I think top players have to have more time on the pitch than on the bench”. We tried and tried and got it.

“We need to enjoy but always be working hard”.

“If I am able to do as well as the previous season then I will keep growing as a player”. Today they showed that.

Jose Mourinho fears Marouane Fellaini has suffered a “bad” back injury, but maintains the Manchester United midfielder will still join up with the Belgium squad during next week’s global break.

The Tigers vice-chairman Ehab Allam revealed in his programme notes that this could be the club’s last game with the Allam family as owners and he hoped a takeover deal with a Chinese consortium would be completed during the worldwide break.
