Mourinho not rushing ´super´ Mkhitaryan

Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has no problem with Jose Mourinho over Manchester United’s raid for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Mkhitaryan’s switch was one of the most talked about transfers of the summer.

Mourinho said: “I think when a team is not playing especially well and in the middle of that average level somebody comes out of that, he goes immediately to the highlight”.

“I think he’s performing more than OK”.

Mourinho was confirmed as Louis van Gaal’s replacement in July following months of intense speculation, but former Spurs player Jermaine Jenas insists it was Pochettino who the United hierarchy most coveted.

“I’m not saying it’s impossible, I’m saying its very hard because we have made a decision made about (Paul) Pogba, (Ander) Herrera, (Morgan) Schneiderlin, (Marouane) Fellaini and (Michael) Carrick”.

Mourinho is surprised Bayern Munich have not attempted to bring Schweinsteiger back to the club where he played for 13 seasons before joining United a year ago.

“It is very hard to happen”. We bought one striker (Ibrahimovic) – not two or three or four. It’s very, very hard that an opportunity will arise.

I’m in no doubt Mkhitaryan will be a mint player for United in the goodness of time. “I’m quite surprised Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is not here to take him back”, Mourinho added.

“I thought after I read some quotes from people at Bayern Munich that they would run to Manchester to bring him back, but no, it did not happen”, Mourinho said.

Mourinho, though, has reassured Marcus Rashford that he will get enough first-team football to continue his rapid development.

A source said of the meeting: “Jose sat the players down and told them he was totally satisfied with his squad”.

However, it wasn’t such a positive picture painted for Bastian Schweinsteiger, with the German midfielder failing to make the squad for any of the three competitive games so far this season.
