“I didn’t expect him to win, but the players he had under him are all good lads”.
“People say whoever is leading the league at Christmas often go on to win the league so to have them at 20-1 is unprecedented”.
It’s been a few days, but Leicester City’s historic Premier League win still hasn’t sunk in.
Bocelli has sold more than 80 million records including his biggest hit “Time to Say Goodbye”.
With the Premier League a global sporting phenomenon, attracting billions of pounds in television rights deals, Leicester’s triumph has been followed worldwide.
One year ago, Mourinho led his Chelsea side to a comfortable Premier League title, only for the Portuguese to be sacked as manager last December following a awful start to the season. “They have had a phenomenal season, Ranieri has done a phenomenal job”, the Frenchman said ahead of Madrid’s Champions League semi-final, second leg against Manchester City.
“Maybe now is too early to think what we have done”, said the 64-year-old.
“Maybe one or two years could be better to understand, but now it is important to stay high in the world”. He was so happy (about) what we were doing in Leicester. He said: “I would like to come and sing something”. That figure mostly consists of revenues alloted from the Premier League revenue share scheme, as well as around $48.5 million for qualifying for the Champions League.
“We don’t need superstars, we need our players”, said Ranieri.
The players can now look forward to another title party when they lift the trophy at their 32,000-seater King Power Stadium following Saturday’s home game with Everton.
New snooker world champion Mark Selby wants to join the club’s open-top bus parade after missing the moment they clinched the title because he was winning his second crown.
He became a mainstay of Forest’s team for a decade before moving to Leicester in 2012, and only got his first taste of top-flight soccer at the age of 30.
