Mourinho To Manchester United: Forget The Past Three Years

“I have watched the process around Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho from a distance. That’s more than a 50 per cent success rate!”

Ed Fulton, trading spokesman for Sporting Index, said: “With so numerous usual suspects faltering this season, Manchester United should certainly have qualified for the Champions League and an FA Cup victory wasn’t enough to save former manager Van Gaal’s skin”.

The Premier League club appointed Mourinho as manager Friday.

For all his faults, he is as close as it gets in soccer to being a guaranteed trophy victor.

For a club of United’s global standing, it has been a disappointing three years since Ferguson’s trophy-filled 26-year tenure ended.

Jose Mourinho is determined to make Manchester United a great club again and has urged the club to forget about the last three years.

“I want to win”, he said.

“But at least it gives the fans and the supporters a little bit of excitement and a bit of a lift, because it’s sort of what we needed I guess”. There’ll be highs, there’ll be lows, but under no circumstances will I be playing mind games, of that you can be assured. “I think the players need to listen – I want to win”.

“It’s not just to say what I say, so yes, I want to focus on the history of this giant club and give what I have and what I don’t have, so I will give absolutely everything to try to go in the direction we want”. A dynasty builder he is not.

“It’s all about what you think is value for a player”. Real Madrid’s league-winning team of 2011-12 under Mourinho scored 121 goals, for example, blowing away the mighty Barcelona that season.

Now the stage is set for the marriage of two of world soccer’s biggest names, Mourinho and United, England’s most successful club and a global giant.

“Obviously, the most important thing is the players and the relationship with them”.

Former Blues doctor Eva Carneiro is claiming constructive dismissal in a case against Chelsea and has a separate personal legal action against Mourinho for alleged victimisation and discrimination.

We already knew that Pep Guardiola would be the City manager by then but the identity of the United boss was unknown. I had a great experience with him, especially during his first spell at Chelsea because he really helped me take my career onto the next level.
