Mourinho to watch ‘on street corner with iPad’?

The Blues boss has been banned from attending Saturday’s game at the Britannia Stadium after admitting a Football Association misconduct charge relating to his behaviour at West Ham last month.

Mourinho also had until 6pm on Friday to appeal to overturn the ban completely.

“It’s stupid to fight a fight that you know you have already lost”, he added.

“I will travel with the players and will be with them until the moment somebody stops me”. That we did. The most incredible scenarios you can imagine (we have envisaged).

“I repeat, if the FA want to punish me, they can punish me, they don’t punish other managers, they punish me – it’s not a problem for me”. One thing is not to be on the bench, like at West Ham, but nobody told me to leave the stadium. “I think this opens it up to happen more in future”. In this case the expectation is that the match officials and the Premier League match delegate would be on hand to ensure that Mourinho did not break any stadium ban. I have been to the Al Sadd stadium where the air conditioning system is truly awesome.

“I have no plans [to watch the game]. I did not prepared them for that so they have to decide themselves”, Mourinho said.

To everyone’s surprise, Mourinho insisted that “maybe I won’t even watch the game”, clarifying further by bluntly stating that “I can’t even contact anyone, what’s the point?”.

Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-game press conference this afternoon and has given Chelseafc.com a team news and injury update. Maybe I sit on the street corner with my iPad.

That loss increased the pressure on the Portuguese boss although the midweek Champions League victory over Dynamo Kiev brought a few respite for Mourinho, whose position has been placed under intense scrutiny.

Only Sunderland (69) have allowed more shots on target against them than Chelsea (63) in the Premier League this season.

That said, Mourinho’s clearly not happy with the ban and the precedent it sets.

Mourinho was angry that his side were not awarded a penalty early in the second-half, with the game all square, when striker Radamel Falcao went down under Saints goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg’s challenge and was booked for diving.
