Mourinho wanted me at Manchester United – Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante

The Argentina global signed for the Red Devils after the 2014 World Cup but has struggled to prove his worth at Old Trafford, failing to hold down a role at both centre-half and left-back.

N’Golo Kante has revealed Jose Mourinho attempted to lure him to Manchester United this summer prior to his move to Chelsea. The day before Man City, we will still have Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Valencia arriving.

Any doubt of Mourinho’s ability to succeed after his most recent stint at Chelsea and his suitability for the role at Manchester United has quickly been dispelled, as he now looks on to push forward and continue to break records as the season progresses.

Kante admits he had a “good feeling” after talks with incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, but he was clearly excited by the prospect of a phone chat with Mourinho.

“We keep eight outfield players and Sam Johnstone as the goalkeeper [for training]”, reported Mourinho.

“Last year a lot of players knew they would be one the bench by the middle of the week and others didn’t even travel with the team”.

Mourinho continued: “Some are coming back on the Monday before the Manchester City match but some are coming back on Friday”. We’ll never quite know. “And I would love all of the players to go because it would mean that everybody is being selected for their national teams”.

Three games into the new Premier League season, and Mourinho looks back to his best, attracting some of the biggest names in the game to his new club, with the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba signing on to be apart of the Mourinho era.

The 21-year-old returned from injury for the start of the new season and earned a call up to the England squad for Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Slovakia, after impressing for his club side.
