Mourinho wants Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba to ignore price tag

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has told Paul Pogba to keep things simple instead of trying to replicate Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The France international’s role in Jose Mourinho’s side has varied since his world-record return to Old Trafford, occupying both withdrawn and advanced positions in midfield.

The United boss also urged Pogba to forget about his price-tag and focus on his football.

The Portuguese said: “The world-record player is always a question but I want Paul to forget that”.

“All I heard during the first half against United was Pogba screaming and shouting at his own players”, claims Kuyt, in comments appears in the Daily Mirror.

Less decorated clubs such as Crystal Palace (Christian Benteke, £32m), Everton (Yannick Bolasie, £28m) and West Ham United (Andre Ayew, £20.5m) parted with sums previously unavailable to them.

Liverpool fans’ favourite Dirk Kuyt enjoyed putting one over Manchester United last night as Feyenoord secured a memorable Europa League victory. “I don’t think he’s ever going to be able to do that”.

“We waited for them to attack and stayed very compact as a team because we knew that if you attack them from the beginning then you run into a knife”. The team improves, Paul improves.

But Mourinho clearly has a plan for Pogba that does involve playing him in a midfield two, as we’ve seen so far, and apart from in the derby, it’s worked so far. “Manchester United sent out a message with the transfer they did: “this is the biggest club in the world”.

“The motivation belongs to themselves so I believe in that, I believe that on Sunday they will try to win the match, try to give absolutely everything and it will be just by them to try to help”.

“Paul said United was in his heart, Woodward wanted him at United a year ago and Mourinho had wanted him at Chelsea too, so when the two combined we knew it was right. The club is too big, the supporters are too passionate for the professionals not to feel that every game is a very important game”, he said.
