Moussa Dembele nets Old Firm hat-trick as Celtic claim bragging rights

They (the players) are pros, same as you guys in the media.

“Leigh is a wonderful finisher but it wasn’t his day today, it was Moussa’s day and the rest of the guys”.

STAR MAN – Moussa Dembele has had a frustrating time since swapping Craven Cottage for Celtic Park, with his own patchy form and the red-hot instincts of Griffiths keeping out of Rodgers’ team. Saturday’s match will also be the first time Rodgers has come up against Rangers boss Mark Warburton, although the pair were briefly together at English Premier League club Watford.

“The significance to the city must never be forgotten for both sets of fans”, Rangers manager Mark Warburton said. More substitution followed, Patrick Roberts for Forrest, Martyn Waghorn for Miller and Harry Forrester for Kiernan but Celtic had a firm grip on the game.

Yesterday’s 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Celtic has left many fans scratching their heads at where it has all gone wrong for their side.

“Obviously, we’d like to have 12 or 13”. We had analysis with the players just now and it’s been pointed out by many of them: same scenario, we are going to get beaten by three or four. As the first half wore on Celtic started to control the game, pinning Rangers into their own half for spells, but couldn’t find any way through the Rangers backline.

“We felt comfortable, but goals change games”. We were poor from the corner. Bedecked in green, white and orange bin-liners (which they wore throughout) it gave some extra colour to that area of the ground. “We’re not running away from wanting to be favourites”.

“I made the people happy there, for a period of time”, he said.

“We are capable of going to Barcelona and getting a result”, he said. “He can’t get near me”. Apologies to the support because they were magnificent.

Demeble’s trio of goals was the first in the fixture since 1984, when Ally McCoist bagged the match ball as Rangers claimed the League Cup with a 3-2 win in the Hampden final. I think you have seen in each of the four games how we can play and hurt teams, but it’s not been a sustained performance over the 90 minutes and that’s something we have to put right for the weekend. We’ve got to be better than that.

Warburton denied the Hampden win in April had been all the sweeter because they had been written off in some quarters.
