Moussa Dembele the hero as Celtic put five past Rangers

Brendan Rodgers is relishing the prospect of experiencing an Old Firm atmosphere for the first time, admitting that nothing will prepare him for the volume levels when his Celtic side host Rangers in the Scottish Premiership tomorrow.

With Aberdeen taking full advantage of Rangers’ liquidation four years ago, they look set to challenge at the top of the table once again.

Meanwhile Warburton was under no illusions about the reception awaiting his side at Celtic Park but backed his players to retain their composure all the same.

Dembele scored his third goal with a neat finish and Stuart Armstrong completed the rout in stoppage time. “And if we do that, we will be in a good place”.

“Front foot, aggressive, no fear and when things go against you have that mentality to bounce back”.

“I’m never going to condone men being sent off but you send off Senderos because he had to go and the other player had to go as well”.

Rangers are approaching 5/1 with some bookmakers to win at Parkhead, but Miller said: “If you look through any Old Firm game, I would imagine the home team normally have the edge as bookies’ favourites”. Sometimes he will play, sometimes he won’t.

The most notably performance was that of former Fulham man Moussa Dembele, who claimed three of the Bhoys’ goals on the day.

Rangers were back in it a minute before half-time with their first meaningful attack.

Rodgers appears to have settled into life in Glasgow well so far but he will know more than most that his tenure as Celtic Manager is likely to be determined by his success or failure against Mark Warburton and Rangers.

Since defeating Dumbarton 1-0 on April 5, Rangers have won just two out of their nine league fixtures – drawing twice and losing twice in the final fixtures of the Championship – before drawing two times and losing yesterday in the top-flight.

“Obviously, we’d like to have 12 or 13”.

Rangers lost Rob Kiernan to injury with 20 minutes left.

“We always talk about our game plan and style of play”. We were poor from the corner.

“He got them playing a really good style of football and I think they responded very well to his methods”. Rangers has eight points from five matches.

“We were high up the pitch, we were pressing like we do normally, and I was pleased with the first 15 minutes of the second half”. The support from them was magnificent, but we don’t come here, or anywhere, and lose goals like that.
