Moussa Sissoko: ‘I didn’t turn down Everton for Tottenham Hotspur’
Transfer Deadline Day lived up to its reputation as Moussa Sissoko confirmed a last minute deal to sign with Tottenham Hotspur.

“But I never went to Everton [even though it was said I would]”.
After Tottenham had seen their £25m offer rejected by Newcastle on Wednesday morning, it looked like Everton were in pole position to sign the midfielder after meeting the Magpies £30m asking price [source: BBC].
‘When I was young, Arsenal was my favourite club… my idol was Patrick Vieira, ‘ Sissoko said in 2014 in an interview with L’Equipe. Of course I would have liked it to have happened earlier, but now it’s done. “Today I’m happy and he’s happy because we will play together in the Premier League”.
Moshiri, however, insists that it was actually Everton’s board who chose not to pursue a move for Sissoko, for the sake of protecting Republic of Ireland playmaker James McCarthy’s role in the first-team.
Indeed, when McCarthy played against West Brom at right wing-back recently – only to be taken off before half-time – things looked bleak for the Irish worldwide at Everton.
Sissoko impressed so much in the hosts’ run to the final, he’s been linked with a number of clubs throughout the summer, including European champions, Real Madrid.
“I have the opportunity to make another step up”.
“I think it’s very good for Tottenham that he’s here”.
He’s believed to have signed a five-year contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who will be competing in the Champions League this season.
“I knew this club really wanted me. I like to run forward, I like power and I have a lot of energy which I can bring to the team”.

On Sissoko’s displays at Euro 2016, Lloris added: “Especially in the last two games against Germany and Portugal, I think he was one of our best players”.
