In pretty gross news, a fan paid $3,190 for a used Stephen Curry mouthguard in an online auction on Sunday morning, per ESPN’s Darren Rovell.
Curry always seems to have his mouthguard hanging out of his mouth during games, and a quick Google search reveals that he was doing this all the way back in college. California-based SCP Auctions handled the sale. Vice President Dan Imler said he expected it to hit at least $5,000. The mouthpiece was left behind under one of the team’s courtside chairs after the game.
It’s a question each and every one of us has asked ourselves countless times before: “What’s the absolute most I would pay for a game-slobbered-in mouthguard discarded by Stephen Curry?”
The used mouthguard wasn’t the only basketball-related item sold at the auction.

John Wooden’s UCLA jacket from the early 1970s received a bid of $85,592 but wasn’t sold because the amount didn’t meet the confidential reserve set for the item.
