Move Over Amazon Echo, The Google Home Already Knows Homeowners

“We think of it as a conversational assistant”, the Wall Street Journal, quoted Pichai as saying at Google’s annual developers’ conference. Amazon’s Echo, which has been a bestseller for the company, lets people use their voice rather than type to search for things and order them from Amazon’s online store and play music through Amazon-owned services, cutting out Google.

Google is also releasing a new device called Google Home to help you manage your domestic life.

Dubbed Google Home, the speaker will be coming out later this year for an unspecified price.

Google is betting it can outsmart rivals on new products-from virtual assistants to messaging apps-with advances in artificial intelligence, technology that helps computers make decisions rather than follow instructions. Allo will use artificial intelligence to analyze text messages and photos to suggest replies, such as “Looks delicious!” when a friend sends a photo of her breakfast.

The two-hour presentation covered the latest Android N offerings, Google’s new voice assistant (which will take on Siri), a virtual reality ecosystem and, of course, bots.

For Google Home, the Google Assistant merges with Chromecast and smart home devices to control televisions, thermostats and other products. Google is promising a “natural conversations” like experience for its Google Home.

The company’s Allo messaging app will come out this summer. So you can summon Google’s help no matter where you are or what the context.

Google has been under scrutiny from regulators in Europe who say its position is too dominant and criticize Google for pulling consumers into bundles of its products. So they announced The Google Assistant. You can talk directly to the Google bot and ask it questions or play games with it, like guessing movie names based on emojis.

Duo is a companion app for one-to-one video calling. We also introduced a feature called Knock Knock, which gives you a live video of the other caller before you answer.

Daydream is a new virtual reality ecosystem that will be made available to all comers, duplicating a strategy that worked well for Google after it fell behind Apple following the iPhone’s debut almost a decade ago.

The new, more intelligent software also focuses on understanding context to answer queries and has been built into the existing Google software that appears on modern smartphones. Instead of announcing any new hardware, it showed a generic line drawing of a headset and hand-held remote with motion sensors inside.
