Movie Trailers Dominated The Super Bowl Ads!

Super Bowl spots never come cheap, but this year they cost more than ever: up to $5 million for a 30-second spot, according to reports. It’s got Despicable Me – wait for it – pedigree behind it, with Chris Renaud co-directing, and the trailer had a certain waggly charm. I think it’s looking better and better.

Ditto for Hollywood, which has always managed to go all out when it comes to Super Bowl trailers.

The X-Men: Apocalypse trailer was fine.

These aren’t quite the Batman v Superman trailer we were expecting, but they’re pretty clever… It was also very brief, but it said to look online for the full version…

Of all the Super Bowl ads, none delivered a more heart-melting one than The Jungle Book. The Verge reports that “the trailer showcases Bill Murray as Baloo the bear, Christopher Walken as King Louie (the orangutan), and Ben Kingsley as the friendly panther Bagheera”. Instead of relying on Deadpool’s unique sense of humor, this ad focused more on the film’s action, which looked just like every other superhero movie.

Most likely to make you audibly exclaim “holy shit”: Captain America: Civil War We’ve seen plenty of Civil War trailers, but this movie looks more and more epic with every snippet of footage released.

Maybe it’s a reflection of how excited we are for this film, or maybe it’s just that “monster teases” make great Super Bowl trailers, but we thought this spot for Matt Reeves’ 10 Cloverfield Lane was really strong. Is there any event big enough to guarantee that everyone’s watching? ‘The Jungle Book, ‘ which features the voices of Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba and Lupita Nyong’o, is set for an April 15 premiere.

Starring John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr., 10 Cloverfield Lane hits theatres March 11 and follows a young woman who finds herself in an underground shelter with a man who claims he saved her life from a chemical attack above. Jason Bourne is in theaters July 29, 2016.

Logical leaps based off budget buys include movie trailers for Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War and perhaps even Independence Day: Resurgence.
