Moyes already considering axing Sunderland signing

There was a familiar sound of jeers and boos at the final whistle on Monday when Everton won 3-0, while thousands of supporters had already left their seats.

Danny Rose, who is at the least out for another week due to injury, is the only player missing from this game from the squad. It’s worth it because he is a good player and we need him.

“It is hard to understand why in every game we have some period in the first half that is hard to get the pace of the game and to manage and handle the game like we normally used to do”. But there has to be a realistic element and a building job because we’re up against it.

Given the context of apparently interminable relegation struggles it is remarkable that gates have held up so well, with the Stadium of Light often attracting crowds in excess of 45,000 last season.

By contrast, Spurs lie third behind the other two undefeated teams after five matches – Manchester City and Everton – although the sight of Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Kane limping off during the close stages soured Pochettino’s afternoon.

“It was a medical decision and that’s all we’re saying at the moment”, he said.

Hmm, OK Moyesy, whatever you say!

The 22-year-old Sunderland starlet has endured a testing start to the season after being drafted in for the injured Vito Mannone with new boss Moyes trying to mould a team in front of him.

DAVID MOYES had wondered if he would have the “Special Ks” who were instrumental in keeping Sunderland up to call on this season and now he has … if he wants to use them.

“But we now want him to step up again”.

The Scot said: “He needs to continue to up his level, he needs to continue to change his body and his frame”.

Moyes is acutely aware that Pickford is a young man playing in a position in which experience can be priceless.

Indeed, Sunderland have not beaten Tottenham at all since 2010 and have lost 13 of their 15 Premier League visits. “I actually think there’s a bit of that in the club – but I’m trying to take it on”.

“Lamine came six months ago and I was not privy to a lot of what was said”, said Moyes.

The visitors sit at the bottom of the table early this season and will have to work really hard to get anything from this game.

I might be going against the grain but I think they were a little unlucky against Monaco on Wednesday night.
