‘Mozart in the Jungle’ wins Golden Globe for best television comedy series
Some couldn’t believe Veep lost to Mozart in the Jungle, tweeting that the show was “robbed” and is the “funniest show on television”.

On the drama side, the US cable network series “Mr. Robot”, about a bunch of hackers and anarchists, emerged the surprise victor, defeating Emmy-winning HBO medieval fantasy “Game of Thrones”.
“Mr. Robot” and “Mozart In The Jungle” late on Sunday took home the awards for best TV series at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards here.
The Globes, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press in Beverly Hills, California, began Sunday night with much of Hollywood buzzing over the revelation Saturday that Penn travelled clandestinely to Mexico to interview the drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman for Rolling Stone.
The Mozart in the Jungle star just won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy!
It was his third Golden Globe victory and seems to put DiCaprio on the path to his first Oscar.
The same thing happened a year ago after Transparent, a popular dramatic comedy produced by Amazon Studios, won the same Golden Globe award for Best Television Series (Comedy or Musical) and director Jill Soloway offered thanks to Amazon and Jeff Bezos on stage.
And, like a year ago, Bezos was in attendance at tonight’s show, sitting next to Transparent star Judith Light.
Newcomer Rachel Bloom, 28, beat veterans Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jamie Lee Curtis in her role as the “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” in the CW’s new musical comedy series, which she also helped to create.
In another repeat, the upset win for the CW comedy came just hours after the show received some good news in the morning.
Other eyebrow-raisers included Lady Gaga’s win for best actress in a limited series or TV movie for American Horror Story: Hotel, and Maura Tierney for best TV supporting actress in The Affair.
I thought Wagner Moura (“Narcos”) deserved to win for Best Dramatic Actor; that award went to Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”), the sentimental choice now that AMC’s long-running series, always a critics darling, has left its thousands of fans bereft after concluding last spring.

After a 10-year ratings high three years ago, the Golden Globes’ viewership has dipped slightly since, with an audience of 19.3 million tuning in last year.
