Mozilla Firefox 40.0.1 Exclusively Released for Windows Users

Last week’s Windows 10 cumulative update was focused on performance and functionality, not security. For instance, if you have Google set as the default in Firefox, the Windows 10 taskbar will change from Bing to Google.

In its monthly round of security fixes, Microsoft has included five bulletins that address Windows 10 issues, and one that covers the new Edge browser included in their newly-launched operating system. “We had a lot of fun building this version of Firefox and we hope you’ll enjoy the new look”.

This is great since updates usually indicate bug fixes, optimization, and sometimes new features.

Analysis by technology site Ars Technica has shown that Windows 10 still contacts Microsoft even when these features are disabled, although some of this is simple and non-identifiable testing for an internet connection.

The browser has been tweaked to provide a more “streamlined feel” and incorporates a new “user interface” tailor-made for Windows 10. They said initially: “This update includes improvements to enhance the functionality of Windows 10″.

Microsoft put out some patches under the umbrella of KB 3081436 update to fix the problem.

However, Microsoft advises users that the Enterprise Edition is most suited for those who are maintaining businesses and organizations. Following his tweet, Windows 10 Mobile 10512 build has now been leaked on a Chinese website. Now his browser makes it very clear how to revert to the status quo, with a tab appearing when Firefox 40 is first installed showing users how to make Firefox the default browser. According to a report on PC World, the plan is to block these extensions by default in Firefox 41 unless users configure an override, while Firefox 42 will block all unsigned extensions. The company has not responded to requests for further comment.
