MP could quit Labour if Corbyn re-elected as leader
In a wide-ranging interview with the Observer, in which he launches what is being billed as a totemic National Education Service policy, the Labour leader described claims of far-left infiltration of the party by Tom Watson as “nonsense” adding, “and I think he knows it’s nonsense”.

The veteran left-winger condemned operator Southern for failing to settle a long-running dispute with conductors and demanded renationalisation.
The call comes amid a fierce battle within Labour over the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, who faces a challenge from Pontypridd MP Owen Smith after a majority of MPs said they had no confidence in him.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is to lay out his plans to transform the U.K.’s beleaguered transport system as the fight for the Labour crown continues.
The Labour leader has pledged to “rebuild and transform” the UK’s transport network to address the “transport nightmare” now faced by commuters.
“It is only by bringing the railways back under public ownership as the contracts expire, that will fix the rail crisis and I’m pleased that even some Tory politicians are now joining us in calling for Southern rail to immediately be brought under public ownership”.
Moving the UK’s railways into public ownership would release cash to improve services and lead to lower regulated fares by as much as 10%, according to research commissioned by the TUC and cited by Mr Corbyn’s leadership campaign.
The socialist singer-songwriter Billy Bragg has turned against Jeremy Corbyn, who he believes to be stuck in the last century.
“I’d like to see them actually praising the work that Labour MPs do around all sorts of issues and “saying don’t you dare have a go at these people, they are doing a perfectly good job”.
He is expected to say: “If we are going to turn our principles into action then we need to secure power by winning support across the country”. We can’t afford to go down that route if we are to retain the ability to represent ordinary working people’.
Bragg, who has voiced his support for Mr Corbyn on a number of occasions, argued the paper had misreported his views.
Hitting out at Corbyn, she said pointedly that this level of abuse simply had not happened under previous leader Ed Miliband.
‘I don’t have a simple answer. I’m still supporting Corbyn, just want more talk about devo for England & fair votes for all. I remain a JC supporter.
