With Syndergaard pitching on Monday against the Washington Nationals, Matz will have his next start pushed back from Wednesday to Thursday with spot starter Logan Verrett taking over on Wednesday.

Noah Syndergaard reportedly has a bone spur in his pitching elbow that has caused him discomfort over his past few starts and the fireball throwing right-hander his hoping to avoid season-ending surgery. There is no structural damage to the elbow, according to Alderson.
