MTV Cribs is coming back as a Snapchat series
MTV, eager to cultivate new youth audiences on screens other than those belonging to a TV set, said it would revive its popular series “Cribs” as a short-form program designed specifically for the instant-messaging app Snapchat.

In the retooled version, artists and celebrities will be able to guide Snapchat users through their homes by speaking to the camera, providing fans with an intimate experience.
Remember “MTV Cribs”? You know-celebs flung open their front doors to chat openly about their insane wine cellars, Lambos, chandeliers, and shoe collections, and sometimes took bubble baths on air, in the name of documentary journalism or something. But then its owner, Viacom, did recently sign a deal with Snapchat, which allows Viacom to sell ads on the app’s behalf.
According to Variety, new episodes of Cribs will begin airing via MTV’s Snapchat Discovery channel sometime in June. Already Mac Miller, Austin Mahone, and Travis Mills are scheduled to show off their homes, their fridge, or whatever else they have in their closets. MTV launched its Discover channel in February-and other outlets launched way before that-but a lot of them suck. The network announced on Thursday that the series will make a return – on snapchat. Viewers can also expect clever GIFs and celebrity interviews. E! News reports that the show will air exclusively on Snapchat.

Famous “Cribs” episodes of yore, such as the one featuring Lil Wayne’s house in New Orleans, seem flawless for a Snapchat redux.
