MU professor Melissa Click faces assault charge
The Missouri mass media professor who called for “some muscle over here” to oust a student journalist from covering a public protest has been charged with 3rd-degree assault, ABC 17 reports.

An assistant professor of communications at MU, Click was seen on video blocking cameramen and reporters from entering the school’s campus. In the video, Click can be heard calling for “muscle” to remove the student journalists, as TheBlaze previously reported.
Schierbecker’s complaint alleged Click “assaulted M.S.by grabbing at his camera with her hand and attempting to knock it from his grasp…”
One of the students filed a complaint with University of Missouri Police and the complaint was forwarded to the city prosecutor. The maximum charge for the Class C misdemeanor is 15 days in jail and a $300 fine. After the incident the University removed a courtesy title in the School of Journalism that had been extended to Click. Shortly before the confrontation, the state’s university system president, Tim Wolfe, and Missouri chancellor R. Bowen Loft announced their resignations.
MU faculty voiced their support for Click in a signed letter, but several lawmakers called for her termination earlier this month.
